User Reviews about LeapPad: Leap 1 Music - "Mother Goose Songbook" Interactive Book and Cartridge
We purchased the Mother Goose Song Book for our almost three-year-old son to play on his new LeapPad. We've been trying to teach him nursery rhymes, and this book has really opened him up to the classic songs I remember from my childhood. He repeatedly asks for this book and has learned several new nursery rhymes as a result. I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to spark an interest for music in their toddlers. -- Couldn't be happier
In preparing to fly across the cross country with a 4-year old, I picked up a few new playthings in the hopes that they might make the flight tolerable. Since the LeapPad is a must-have travel toy, Mother Goose Songbook looked like it would make a good choice. My son loves music, but this book bores him. I'd love to give the Mother Goose Songbook a high rating, because I think it's fun, and educational; however, my son doesn't like it. He listened to the songs, and touched the illustrations exploring for funny sayings, but overall seemed disappointed. He played with it on the plane for 15-minutes, but then selected another book. During our travels, we spent a few days on the road driving to, and from Vermont. I thought for sure he'd pop Mother Goose in the LeapPad, and I'd hear nursery rhymes droning on, and on. It didn't happen once. I've encouraged him to give it a go, but he always selects another book. In fact, I suggested he try the Mother Goose Songbook today, and he told me flatly that he didn't like it. I think this book would make an awesome gift for children who are learning to read, and play music. The interactive features reinforce learning especially in identifying notes; however, for those who aren't musically inclined it may not amuse them as much as other LeapPad books.

I love the idea of having music to sing-along to. I like the option of music only so we can sing along. However, some of the singers are...um...well, my daughter makes a funny face and starts laughing. The voices sound weird. She does enjoy hitting the pictures to make it talk...starts to sound like a rap... -- Okay..
This book was a disappointment. The idea is awesome, but the tunes are a little off beat-slow. We have completely enjoyed other Leap Frog books, but this book was missing zip. The pages are ripping off the spiral part. We still look forward to trying other books! -- r4wellness
We were a bit disappointed in this book. The tunes and tempo of several of the rhymes is different than the "usual" versions that my kids are familiar with. The pages could really use to be more durable, the cord from the pen has caused several small tears and the pages rip from the spiral binding much too easily. For the price, I would suggest getting a different book...Thomas the Tank Engine & Bob the Builder were both very popular with my 4 yr old son. -- Not the greatest LeapPad book
